Don't get me wrong, vineyard views can be pretty dreamy when it comes to wedding backdrops. But something about the redwoods, gets me every time.
Whether it's the fresh air you breathe from all the lush greens, the humbling nature of these towering, ancient forests or the pretty pops of golden, dappled light that trickle down through the leaves, venues like Deer Park Villa tap all the senses, for a magical Northern California experience for guests and vendors alike. On a not-too-hot day last July, Brit and Will said their vows under the redwoods surrounded by family and friends. Playing on the cool greens that surrounded them, they worked with Venn Floral to dress up the space in an elegant, nature-inspired palette of blue-greens and whites with eucalyptus, hellebores, olive leaf, fiddlehead and maidenhair ferns, Queen anne's lace and more.
What a treat it was to style my cakes with these fun elements, too!
Brit and Will went with a rustic style organic wedding cake (a 5-tier semi-naked organic lemon cake filled with alternating layers of strawberries with sweet mascarpone and organic blueberries with lemon verbena custard), plus an organic carrot cake and natural velvet cake on the side.
