The love in the air at Katy and Ben’s Petaluma wedding last October at Olympia’s Valley Estate will probably stay clearly embedded in my memory forever.
For one thing, I was eight months pregnant and had spent the past week away from home due to the smokey conditions in and around my town from the relentless wildfires that ravaged Sonoma, Napa and Lake counties last year.
I, along with my whole community, was pretty depleted, which was, perhaps, why the love in the air was palpable. During that time, I was craving love and light more than ever, and I found it instantly being a part of Katy and Ben’s special union. I felt it from them, and I felt it personally with my own love by my side that day, doing the heavy lifting to protect our little bundle in my belly.
Also, Katy and Ben are one of those couples, whose kind, genuine spirits you simply don’t forget. I remember their tasting so fondly, especially Katie’s sweet words about her cherished family memories around the table and how meaningful this cake tasting was in her wedding planning.
Yes, the love in the air at Katy and Ben’s Petaluma wedding cut through the smoke last October, casting a luminous glow and a promise of healing, hope and peace for the coming days, weeks and years for us all, and I’m forever thankful.
